When your depression has not improved with medication or therapy, waiting months for results can feel overwhelming. If you are looking for a faster treatment program, accelerated transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) may be right for you.
With traditional TMS programs, most patients achieve results after two months—sometimes even longer. Our accelerated TMS is a proven treatment program that can deliver results much more rapidly for our patients. Instead of spacing your treatment out over two months, this advanced protocol delivers multiple high-frequency sessions in a single day. Some of our patients can even complete the full course in one day. Our specialists are highly-trained TMS experts who can answer all your questions, including how long it takes for accelerated TMS treatment to work. Learn more by contacting Cedar Park TMS today.
Accelerated TMS is an intensive, short-duration treatment protocol for treatment-resistant depression. For many people, accelerated TMS works much faster than traditional TMS. Traditional TMS schedules involve one session per day over approximately nine weeks. Accelerated TMS condenses that schedule by delivering up to 20 sessions in a single day, with sessions spaced as little as 30 minutes apart. Many protocols use intermittent theta burst stimulation (iTBS), a form of stimulation designed to enhance neuroplasticity efficiently and safely.
The goal of accelerated TMS is speed without sacrificing effectiveness. Research has shown that clustered stimulation can produce rapid symptom reduction, which is especially important in urgent or severe depressive episodes. In addition to faster relief, this model offers practical convenience. Instead of arranging daily visits for weeks, patients may complete treatment in a matter of days—or even one day—allowing them to return to work, family responsibilities, and routine more quickly.
Because the accelerated TMS protocol is intensive, a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation is required to ensure medical suitability. Accelerated TMS may be suitable for individuals:

Accelerated TMS therapy offers several advantages. Aside from the expedited treatment schedule, patients can drive themselves to and from appointments and typically continue their normal daily activities the following day.
The biggest advantage of accelerated TMS is how long it takes to work. Many patients report early shifts in mood, energy, or clarity within the first few days—sometimes even within 24 to 72 hours—though response varies. Improvement often continues in the weeks following treatment as neural networks strengthen and stabilize. Ongoing follow-up appointments help ensure gains are maintained, and we can offer additional support if needed.
