It is completely understandable to feel discouraged when weeks of treatment still leave you struggling with your mental health. Accelerated TMS therapy in Austin condenses the healing power of transcranial magnetic stimulation into a timetable measured in hours—often one day—so you can move forward sooner.

At Cedar Park TMS, our experienced team brings this advanced treatment protocol to our community with the same patient-centered approach that guides our standard sessions. By learning how the therapy works and what a single day can accomplish, you can decide whether this breakthrough approach belongs in your depression-care plan.

What Is Accelerated TMS?

Traditional TMS involves one treatment session per day, five days a week, for six to nine weeks. Accelerated TMS protocols vary but aim to complete a standard 9 week course of TMS in a much shorter time frame.

ONE-D Accelerated TMS changes only the schedule—not the magnetic pulses—by delivering 20 three-minute intermittent theta-burst (iTBS) sessions in a single day, each spaced 30 minutes apart, and typically running from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Based on clinical data presented at recent professional meetings, this one-day schedule yields about 90 percent response and 70 percent remission in treatment-resistant depression, with benefits lasting at least six months for most patients.

Because the One-D protocol itself is still considered off-label, our Austin team customizes the exact parameters of accelerated TMS therapy to your medical profile.

Understanding How Accelerated TMS Works

Each three-minute theta-burst block delivers 600 magnetic pulses to the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex—an area linked to mood regulation. By repeating the treatment 20 times in one day, your brain receives the cumulative effect of a nine-week traditional course within a single day. This rapid sequence appears to boost synaptic plasticity efficiently, encouraging the growth of new neural connections that sustain mood improvement long after the final pulse.

We are thrilled to offer accelerated TMS therapy to our Austin patients, offering new hope for faster relief.

Benefits of Accelerated TMS

Before choosing any treatment, it helps to consider the practical advantages. Some key benefits of accelerated TMS include:

By compressing weeks of therapy in Austin into a short period, accelerated TMS therapy can create momentum when motivation and energy feel scarce. Cedar Park TMS is among the very few centers in the United States offering neurocardiac-guided, one-day accelerated TMS.

Is Accelerated TMS Right for You?

Although major depressive disorder and treatment-resistant depression are the primary indications, our clinicians may also apply accelerated TMS off-label for anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, and OCD.

What a Treatment Day at Cedar Park TMS Looks Like

You may be wondering what to expect when you arrive for accelerated TMS therapy sessions in Austin. You arrive at 8:00 AM, settle into a comfortable chair, and our technician positions the coil using personalized measurements. A three-minute burst feels like gentle tapping on your scalp. Between sessions, you relax in our lounge with water and light snacks. The cycle repeats 20 times, and by about 6:00 PM, you can head home—typically experiencing only mild scalp sensitivity or a brief headache that fades within hours.
