If you are feeling burdened by depression that does not subside, you may believe nothing will ever change. If medication trials and talk therapy have not brought the improvement you need, Spravato treatment in Austin may offer a new source of hope.

At Cedar Park TMS, we are part of the local mental health community and understand the unique stressors of life in a metro area. Our psychiatrist team combines compassionate guidance with evidence-based care, offering you a safe, clinic-based option that works differently from traditional antidepressants.

Understanding Treatment-Resistant Depression

Approximately one-third of people living with major depressive disorder do not respond to two or more full courses of oral medication. This challenge, also known as treatment-resistant depression, can intensify your feelings of frustration and isolation. By targeting glutamate signaling instead of serotonin, this ketamine-based depression treatment in Austin may interrupt that cycle and allow healing to begin.

Because FDA-approved esketamine therapy acts on a different brain pathway, some patients notice improvement in mood within the first few weeks, even after years of disappointment with standard medications.

Understanding How Spravato Works

Spravato (esketamine) is a nasal spray used together with an oral antidepressant. During each appointment at our Austin office, you self-administer the esketamine nasal spray with direct supervision. The medication reaches its peak levels within minutes, beginning a series of changes that support the growth of new neural connections linked to mood regulation.

Most people visit twice per week for the first month, then reduce to weekly or biweekly for maintenance. Our providers personalize every schedule to your needs, helping you receive the right balance of therapeutic benefit and convenience.

Ideal Candidates for Spravato Sessions

Safety, Monitoring, and Recovery

Esketamine can cause temporary increases in blood pressure, mild dizziness, or changes in perception. Because we administer every dose in our office and track your vitals in real time, we minimize your risk and help you focus on healing. Most side effects fade within a few hours, and you can resume normal activities except driving by the following day.

We also coordinate closely with your existing mental health providers in Austin to integrate Spravato treatment into your broader care plan, creating a strategy that reflects your goals and lifestyle.
